The appeal process for 2012-13 is now open. Cost of attendance appeal forms will be available in early May.
Types of Appeals
University Scholarships and Financial Aid (USFA) strives to provide individual consideration of each student's circumstances to the extent possible. Students who have a special circumstances they would like taken into consideration, (i.e. cost of attendance, change in FAFSA data, dependency status) may submit an appeal to our office for review and consideration by a committee.
USFA will consider the following types of appeals:
- Cost of Attendance Appeal--The student believes that his/her costs exceed our estimated cost of attendance
- Financial Aid Professional Judgment Appeal - Due to extenuating circumstances the FAFSA is no longer an accurate estimate of the family's ability to provide support.
- Dependency Appeal -The student seeks to be independent for purposes of evaluating FAFSA data.
- Reasonable Academic Progress Appeal -A student who fails to meet Reasonable Academic Progress standards can seek to appeal their eligibility for financial aid.
