The award package is a list of the financial aid we can offer you for a particular aid year. It lists the types and the amounts of financial aid you can expect to receive at Virginia Tech. The aid may consist of federal, state, and private aid from the university and other sources.
The student’s eligibility for financial aid awards is determined by the information provided in the FAFSA. The federal processor uses the student’s and parents’ (if applicable) FAFSA data to calculate the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
The offer of financial aid is subject to changes in enrollment, additional aid received (i.e. outside scholarships or loans), or personal family circumstances. All amounts are estimated until all requirements to receive the aid have been met (i.e. Entrance Interview, Master Promissory Note).
In your Award Letter a guide is enclosed that will explain the Financial Aid Notification and provides a worksheet to help you calculate your ‘Net Cost’: what you will actually pay after all financial aid is applied. On the final page of the guide you will find a Frequently Asked Questions section that explains the next steps of accepting your offer and completing your Financial Aid paperwork.
If after reviewing the award package and cost information you determine you need additional financial assistance or payment options, please review the following options on the Virginia Tech website:
