Agricultural Technology Students

The Virginia Tech Agricultural Technology program is a two year associate’s degree program.   Since the program is only two years, first year students are awarded as freshman and second year students are awarded as sophomores.

Students should be aware of the Federal Stafford Loan limits for these grade levels.  Dependent freshman can borrow up to $2625 and independent freshmen can borrow up to $6625.  Dependent sophomores can borrow up to $3500 and independent sophomores can borrow up to $7500.

As with other students, dependent students have the option of using the Parent PLUS Loan or private Alternative Loans to obtain additional funding for their education.  Independent students can borrow additional funds through the Alternative Loan program. Dependent and independent students may also qualify for additional federal, state, and institutional aid depending on their financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
