In most cases, the student should have already received a financial aid award package based on Blacksburg campus attendance. The award package is unlikely to increase once we adjust for the costs of Education Abroad... meaning that the only additional aid resources for most Education Abroad students consist of the Parent PLUS, Private/Alternative Loan, and (for graduate students) the Grad PLUS.
Federal Work Study (FWS) is a program that provides part-time employment opportunities to eligible students to help meet the cost of education.

At Virginia Tech, the summer session ends the academic year. (For example, Summer 2015 ends the 2014-15 school year.) We use the same FAFSA as the prior fall and spring, meaning that no additional FAFSA is required. Newly admitted students who attend the summer prior to the fall term of admission must be sure to file the appropriate FAFSA by June 30. Summer aid is typically limited to loans: Stafford, Parent PLUS, Graduate PLUS, and Private/Alternative
Winter session financial aid is available only to students seeking a degree from Virginia Tech. Due to the limited availability of financial aid, funding is not guaranteed. All students must complete the appropriate FAFSA to be considered for available aid. A separate financial aid application is NOT required.
