Federal Work Study

Federal Work Study (FWS) is a program that provides part-time employment opportunities to eligible students to help meet the cost of education.

Scholarships

Scholarships are similar to grants but they are awarded based on student qualifications and usually include an application process. Scholarships do not have to be repaid.

Grants and Waivers

Grants are awarded based on the student's financial need. Like scholarships, grants do not have to be repaid.

Loans

Virginia Tech offers several types of loans from the federal government based on the financial need of the student.
