Federal Work Study
Federal Work Study (FWS) is a program that provides part-time employment opportunities to eligible students to help meet the cost of education.
Based on the FASFA results, some students may be awarded money that can be earned through part-time employment in Federal Work Study approved positions. We encourage students to take advantage of this program because it offers several benefits such as:
- A reduction in the amount of money a student needs to borrow,
- Invaluable work experience,
- An opportunity to continue to work after the Federal Work Study funds end,
- Development of professional contacts,
- Flexible work schedules (employers realize students have other demands on their time that include class and studying), and
- Possibility of working on-campus.
In order to be eligible for the Federal Work Study program, students must file the FASFA on time, must check "yes" in step 1 of the FASFA to indicate interest in the program, and must be enrolled full-time.
To find employment, students should follow the specific directions for the job(s) they are seeking. Typically, the student can contact the prospective employer directly.
