Academic Competitiveness Grant

The Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) was established through the Federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Pell Grant Eligibility
  • Be enrolled full time (12 credit hours) in a degree seeking program
  • Be enrolled in the first or second academic year of study at a two-year or four-year degree granting institution
  • Completed a rigorous secondary school program of study (after January 1, 2005 for sophomores and January 1, 2006 for freshmen)
  • Not have been previously enrolled in a degree granting program (if a freshman)
  • Have at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the first academic year (for second-year students)

Application Process

  • File a FAFSA with correct signatures by March 11

Award Information

  • Will provide up to $750 in the first academic year
  • Will provide up to $1,300 in the second academic year
  • The grant may be renewed one additional year for up to $1300 provided the student continues to meet the above criteria as a sophomore
