National SMART Grant

General Information

Established through the Federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, the Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant Program allows up to $4000 for a student's third and fourth academic year of study. Renewal for a student's fourth year is based on the student's continued eligibility and assumed continued federal funding of the program. The student's GPA and major will be checked each term to ensure he/she continues to meet eligibility requirements.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • US Citizenship
  • Pell Grant Eligibility (FAFSA Estimated Family Contribution no more than $4,110)
  • Full-Time Enrollment in a degree seeking program at a four-year degree-granting institution
  • Earn at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Working towards a major as part of:
    • Physical Science
    • Life Science
    • Computer Science
    • Engineering
    • Mathematics
    • Technology
    • A Critical Foreign Language
