Tuition Mitigation Grant

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Tuition Mitigation Grant (TMG) at Virginia Tech

New funds have been allocated by the federal government to provide tuition mitigation grants to undergraduate Virginia residents that attend Virginia Tech. These grants are designed to help students mitigate increases in tuition. The 2009-
10 grant amounts for full-time students will be $65 for Fall 2009 semester and $65 for 2010 Spring semester totaling $130 for the academic year. Reduced amounts will be available to part-time students. University Scholarships and Financial Aid (USFA) will manage this program. Initially, USFA will assume all students will be full-time and thus post only full-time award amounts adjusting for part-time students approximately three weeks into each semester. When USFA awards the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Tuition Mitigation Grant (TMG), a notice will be sent to the student. No response is necessary on the student’s part. The grant will show as a credit on the student bill and will reduce the amount of tuition to be paid on the bill by the payment due date.
