General Information

The College of Science Scholarship Application is an online application for various scholarships provided through the College of Science and for the Biological Sciences Department.

College of Science

The College of Science plans to award 10-15 undergraduate scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year. These awards will be made during the spring semester 2009. These scholarships are grouped into two categories.

Category 1 is based principally on academic achievement and/or leadership

Category 2 is based on academic achievement and/or leadership with an added need-based component.

Biological Sciences Department

The Biological Sciences Departmental scholarships range in the amount from $1000 - $2500 for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Scholarship Criteria

• Many of the scholarships have selections criteria determined by the donor such as financial need, major, or attendance to a certain high school
• Scholarships that have a financial need component must be accompanied by a 2009-2010 FAFSA filed by the March 11 deadline

Application Review

The College of Science scholarship and/or Biological Sciences Departmental Scholarship applications are reviewed on the basis of:

• A complete application. The demographic and general scholarship sections in the Scholarships Gateway must be completed to be considered a complete application. For new/transfer students, applications may be submitted before an offer of admissions.
• Financial need for need based scholarships which are determined by a complete FAFSA.
• Academic achievement
• Additional criteria (i.e. first generation student, major) may be requested
• Extracurricular activities
• Community involvement

Awarding

Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. If you are selected for a scholarship, you will receive notification by mail. A photo will be taken and may be used in the college newsletter or webpage. Your name will also be provided to the donor of the scholarship.
