The Virginia Tech Safety Net is awarded to in-state students with high financial need to help with the cost of tuition and fees.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be an in-state student
- Need-based, must have high financial need
Application Process
- File the FAFSA (with correct signatures) by the March 11 deadline
- Maintain Reasonable Academic Progress (if returning student)
Award Information
- In the 2008-2009 award year, the Virginia Tech Safety net awarded $700 to Pell Grant eligible students
- Can be renewed, provided the student maintains RAP, continues to demonstrate high need, and files the FAFSA on time
- Will be applied only to Virginia Tech tuition and fee costs
